Germany’s media authorities
Media literacy is indispensable – but what’s on offer is confusing. We bundle the most important initiatives from Germany’s media authorities and make them visible and usable.

Orientation in diversity
Media literacy is now a key cultural technique since it determines whether people can find their way around despite the flood of information, fake news and disinformation – and whether they can actively participate in our democracy. At the same time, the projects’ landscape is confusing: nationwide programs, regional initiatives, different target groups, a wide variety of formats. Our task was to make this diversity visible and accessible.
From “klicksafe” to “Internet-ABC” and “handysektor” to “FLIMMO”: The media authorities support over a hundred media education initiatives across Germany, many of which have an impressive reach. For example, every third child in Germany knows about “Internet-ABC“.
We developed a brochure that bundles all these offerings, structures them and provides orientation. The brochure is also designed in such a way that the media authorities of Germany’s federal states can flexibly supplement and adapt it – as a key tool for a better overview in one of the most important educational fields of our time.
