ZEIT Bucerius Foundation
An anniversary magazine that celebrated 50 years of this foundation’s work – tradition-conscious, curious, committed to the truth and at the same time clearly focused on the future.

A magazine full of tradition and future
The ZEIT Bucerius Foundation, one of Germany’s most important foundations, promotes quality journalism, democracy, art and culture in Hamburg – and thus bears the signature of its founder, Gerd Bucerius, the co-founder of Stern magazine. He was a personality to whom we felt particularly close – not least because many of us worked for Hamburg-based publications. Gerd Bucerius’ stance still characterises the foundation today: curiosity, critical thinking and a commitment to the truth.
Our task was to develop a magazine for the Foundation’s 50th anniversary that makes this tradition visible and at the same time paints a picture of the future – through major features, clear infographics and plenty of space for the foundation’s partners and experts. The outcome was a print product that both honoured the foundation’s history and posed new questions – one that Gerd Bucerius would hopefully have liked.
